Florida Hospital Fish Memorial patients not only benefit from talented physicians, specialists and nurses collaborating on their case, they also have access to the latest technology and treatment options.
THREE-DIMENSIONAL TREATMENT PLANNING
CT guided 3-D treatment planning that provides more precise information in determining plans, improving accuracy and treatment results that best treat the tumor.
BRACHYTHERAPY
A specialized radiation therapy for specific tumors. It is used when the cancer is confined to a certain site and involves implanting tiny pellets containing radiation directly into the middle of the cancer.
Prostate Seed Implants - one-time outpatient procedure that administers radiation directly to the prostate, minimizing treatment to the bladder and bowel. Radioactive seeds are then precisely placed in the prostate gland using ultrasound guidance to kill cancerous cells.
High-Dose Rate Afterloading – delivers high doses of radiation directly to tumor sites.

EXTERNAL BEAM RADIATION
Daily treatment from external radiation source that targets the affected area. This is a standard radiation therapy that uses 3-D imaging for treatment planning.
IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy)
Higher doses of radiation are delivered directly to cancer cells while sparing more of surrounding healthy tissue. IMRT uses 3-D imaging for treatment planning. Tumors thought to be untreatable due to close proximity of vital organs and structures are now treatable with a significant reduction in doses to normal tissue and decreased risk of side effects.
