Florida Hospital Fish Memorial Observes American Heart Month2/1/2010 FLORIDA HOSPITAL FISH MEMORIAL OBSERVES AMERICAN HEART MONTH Hospital urges community to get walking in the fight against the nation’s number one killer – cardiovascular disease.
ORANGE CITY, FL—February 1, 2010 — Florida Hospital Fish Memorial will host three free community events to kick off American Heart Month this February and encourage the local community to get walking in the fight against cardiovascular disease, the nation’s number one killer. All three events are free and open to the public.
According to the American Heart Association, 58 percent of Americans say they plan to improve their health this year, but more than half say they often find reasons not to exercise. “Walking is one of the easiest ways to improve cardiovascular health,” says Debra Allison, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial. “Many people don’t realize that by exercising for as little as 30 minutes a day, you can reduce your risk for heart disease. We are hoping to motivate people this month by hosting these events.”
