M.D. - Medical Doctor is a physician who has attended a medical school and completed a clinical internship and residency. An M.D. is licensed by the state in which he/she practices.
D.O. - Doctor of Osteopathy is a physician who has attended a medical school and completed a clinical internship and residency. A D.O. is specially trained to perform osteopathic manipulation. This technique in which these physicians use their hands to diagnose illness and treat patients. They pay particular attention to the bones, joints, muscles and nerves. A D.O. is licensed by the state in which he/she practices.
D.P.M. - Doctor of Podiatric Medicine is a physician who has attended medical school, clinical internship, residency and has specialized training in Podiatric Medicine. A D.P.M. is a physician that is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of diseases of the foot. A D.P.M. is licensed by the state in which he/she practices.
D.M.D. - Doctor of Dental Medicine is a physician who has attended medical school and completed a clinical graduate program or residency. A D.M.D. is licensed by the state in which he/she practices.
Board Certified - Board Certification is awarded when a physician has successfully completed the requirements of particular specialty or sub-speciality and has passed the certification exams administered by the speciality board.
