St. Ann’s Council of Catholic Women Annual Fashion Show Benefits Cancer Patients
ORANGE CITY, FLORIDA, May 2, 2007 - St. Ann’s Council of Catholic Women has donated the $3,712.00 proceeds from their annual fashion show to help cancer patients. The proceeds from the March fashion show will be shared with American Cancer Society Resource Centers throughout Volusia and Flagler Counties. Mary Schmidt, president of St. Ann’s Council of Catholic Women said, “The women of the Council wanted to help breast cancer patients through the fashion show. We all know people who have been affected by breast cancer.”
Diana DePaolo, MSW, Patient Care Liaison and Oncology Social Worker, FLORIDA HOSPITAL Cancer Institute West Volusia accepted the donation. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Resource Center at Florida Hospital Cancer Institute West Volusia. It is the only Resource Center of its kind in West Volusia, providing registered cancer patients with educational materials and accessories. The generous support of local organizations such as the St. Ann’s Council of Catholic Women helps to offer comfort and education to individuals who are coping with the physical and psychological effects of cancer.
In addition to the Resource Center, Florida Hospital Cancer Institute West Volusia offers support groups to help people affected by cancer feel less alone and improve their ability to deal with uncertainties and challenges. The groups focus on coping and adjusting to the emotional impact of the cancer experience.
