Orange City, Florida, July 21, 2006 – The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations awarded FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial with the Gold Seal of Approval™ in July 2006, indicating the hospital has received full accreditation. The designation means that FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial has demonstrated compliance with national standards for patient safety and quality of care.

The unannounced survey is completed every three years and lasts four days. During this time, the visiting surveyors address the organization’s level of performance in key functional areas such as patient rights, patient treatment, and infection control, as well as the organization’s ability to provide safe, high quality care.

“We are very pleased with the results of the survey,” stated FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial CEO Joe Johnson. “Having the JCAHO accreditation demonstrates to our community that this hospital is completely committed and devoted to providing the highest quality health care possible. We are constantly seeking ways in which to enhance the overall hospital experience.”

The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, the Joint Commission is the nation’s predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Since 1951, the Joint Commission has maintained state-of-the-art standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of care provided by health care organizations. The Joint Commission’s comprehensive accreditation process evaluates an organization’s compliance with these standards and other accreditation requirements.
