Free Pink Tea Luncheon to Focus on Breast Cancer

WHAT: A free Pink Tea lunch and panel discussion open to the community to discuss Breast Cancer. The Pink Tea is one of four planned Lunch & Learn events sponsored by the American Cancer Society in partnership with FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial Cancer Institute.

WHO: Panel includes Dr. Alexandra Osorio, M.D., Radiologist at FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Imaging, and Dr. Santosh Nair, M.D., Medical Oncologist/Hematologist/Internist from Advanced Hematology/Oncology Centers and Jill Kamla, RT (R) (M) Manager Florida Hospital Fish Imaging, Jan Ryan, RT (R) (M).

WHY: To educate and inform the community about breast cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates that in the United States in 2007, 178,480 women will receive a diagnosis of breast cancer, with 40,460 estimated deaths due to breast cancer.  Of these, in 2007 Florida can expect 11,710 of it’s female population to be diagnosed with breast cancer, with 2,700 estimated deaths caused by breast cancer.*  *Statistics are quoted directly from the American Cancer Society Cancer Facts & Figures 2007, available online at www.cancer.org, statistics.
