Hospitals Mourn the Loss of CFO Jim Hinrichs

ORANGE CITY, FLORIDA, October 5, 2006– Florida Hospital DeLand and Florida Hospital Fish Memorial mourn the loss of Chief Financial Officer Jim Hinrichs, CPA who passed away in his sleep on September 30, 2006. The news has shocked the entire Adventist Health System family where Hinrichs has touched the lives of many in his 18 years with the company.

Since October 2005, Jim had been serving as Chief Financial Officer of Florida Hospital DeLand and Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.

Florida Hospital Fish Memorial President Joe Johnson said, “As we grieve with his family we are also reminded of Jim’s dedication to the mission of Adventist Health System over the years and his beautiful and insightful expressions of faith. He developed his God-given talents in music, business, and friendships and generously shared these gifts with others.  We will miss his leadership, his quick laughter, and thoughtful counsel.  Most of all, we will miss his friendship.”
During his time with the hospitals, Hinrichs led preparations for the transition to a state-of-the-art automated clinical information system that will support the delivery of more effective and more efficient patient care at the bedside. Hinrichs was dedicated to using his recent experiences at Shawnee Mission in Kansas to ensure a successful and smooth changeover for both Florida Hospital DeLand and Florida Hospital Fish Memorial on October 22, 2006.
“Jim brought energy, intelligence, and integrity to his work,” said Florida Hospital DeLandChief Executive Officer Daryl Tol. “He was a man with clear talent and a willingness to share his commitment to his God and his family. Florida Hospital has lost a great leader and our team has lost a mentor and friend.”
Hinrichs returned to Central Florida one year ago from Shawnee Mission Medical Center where he served as the Chief Financial Officer. He also worked as Controller at Adventist Health System’s Corporate Office in Winter Park , CFO at FLORIDA HOSPITAL Heartland Division in Polk County,as well as Memorial Hospital in Kentucky and Jellico Community Hospital in Tennessee. Hinrichs is a graduate of Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and continued post-graduate studies at the University of Central Florida.
A Memorial Service for Jim Hinrichs will take place:
4:00 pm, Saturday, October 7

A memorial/education fund has been established to benefit the children of Jim Hinrichs.  In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family has requested that donations be made to:
