A Breath of Fresh Air Celebration:
A Lunch and Learn & Open House Event

In keeping with the Adventist Health System goal to provide a healing environment, and to promote a healthy environment in our community, FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial becomes a tobacco-free campus on November 15, 2007.

WHAT: An employee celebration will take place in the morning. Chaplain Howard Fish will hold a Blessing of Trees, for trees that have been planted in honor of the employee classes who have successfully completed the Smoking Cessation Program. Inscribed plaques will be located at each tree honoring the employees. Immediately following, there will be a brief presentation and release of butterflies ceremony by CEO Joe Johnson.

The public is invited to participate in the afternoon’s events. In partnership with the American Cancer Society, an educational Lung Cancer lecture will be given by a staff physician specializing in lung disease. Topics include Lung Cancer and non-smokers, screening, treatments, and much more.

Immediately following are two Open House events presented by FLORIDA HOSPITAL Cancer Institute Fish Memorial and FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial Sleep Disorders Center. Attendees may enjoy hors d’oeuvres, visit with physicians, health care professionals, ask questions and end the day with sweet dream desserts.

Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer death world-wide for men and women. It’s important to remember that non-smokers can be afflicted with this disease. The American Cancer Society estimates close to 214,000 people will be diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2007 and two-thirds will be women.

The goal of FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial is to provide the safest, healthiest, most cost-effective working environment possible for employees. As a health care provider, our goal is to provide the most comprehensive, cost-effective quality health care possible. As a community member, we provide leadership in increasing the health and well-being of the community.

WHEN: Thursday, November 15, 2007 4:00 p.m.

Free and reservations are not required. Attendees must be present to be eligible for the drawing of gift cards to area home improvement stores.
