CANCER INSTITUTE OPENS RESOURCE CENTER FOR PATIENTS
ORANGE CITY, FLORIDA, December 21, 2006 The FLORIDA HOSPITAL Cancer Institute West Volusia in partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS), announced the opening of the American Cancer Society Resource Center on the campus of FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial in Orange City. The Resource Center is the only one of its kind in West Volusia.
The American Cancer Society Resource Center provides registered cancer patients with educational materials and accessories such as wigs, prostheses, bras, scarves, turbans and pillows free of charge. Cancer patients interested in the Resource Center and not currently registered with ACS must register by calling 1-800-227-2345 or completing a form at the Center. The Center is staffed by trained volunteers Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and operates by appointment only. Cancer patients are encouraged to call (386) 917-5760 to schedule an appointment.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the needs of the cancer patients in the West Volusia community,” said FLORIDA HOSPITAL Cancer Institute West Volusia Patient Care Liaison and Oncology Social Worker Diana DePaolo. “FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial is proud to be able to offer this important resource to the community.” DePaolo also serves on the Volusia/Flagler American Cancer Society Board of Directors.
