HOSPITAL DONATES TOYS TO SALVATION ARMY
ORANGE CITY, FLORIDA, December 21, 2006 FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial employees participate with many community and charity initiatives throughout the year and the hospital has teamed with The Salvation Army for the second consecutive year in the Annual Angel Tree program.
“Angel Trees” decorated with paper angel tags listing the first name, age, gender and Christmas wish of a local child who will receive the gift, were placed in the hospital entrance at the end of November. Departments throughout FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial worked together to provide new clothing and toys for children of the West Volusia community. Several departments committed to as many as four angels each and raised over $800 toward the angel gift collection. Over 50 children in West Volusia will receive gifts for Christmas.
“The impact of groups like Fish Memorial is immeasurable,” said The Salvation Army West Volusia Corps Officer Captain Mark Dooley. “As of today we are over 500 angels short of our goal and we would not be able to do what we do without groups taking a large number of angels. I would like to thank FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial for all they do to make Christmas so much better for children of the community.”
“FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial is proud to participate in such a worth while endeavor,” said Assistant Vice President Chief Nursing Officer Sue Fowler. “This year I would have liked to be shopping for grandchildren, but since I do not have any yet...I have taken that desire and shopped for my Salvation Christmas Angel. I enjoy buying toys and purchasing the latest fashions trends. There is an excitement in doing something for others, knowing that we are able to make a difference in someone's life. It appears that many of our departments within the hospital share that same spirit. Each year we build on the previous years efforts. FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial is proud to participate in this program and to assist others in our community."
